How Social Autopilot works

Last updated 17 September 2026

Social Autopilot is a web app for planning and publishing social media posts. You connect the social accounts you own, write posts — or have them drafted from your own website — place them on a calendar, and they are published automatically at the times you choose.

This page walks through the app in the order you would use it. Using the app needs a free account: sign up or sign in.

1. Create an account

Sign up with your name, email address and a password. Connecting social accounts and scheduling posts require a confirmed email address, so the app sends you a verification link first.

2. Connect your social accounts

On the Connected Accounts screen you link each account through that platform's own sign-in and permission screen — Social Autopilot never sees your password for it. You can connect Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.

Each connection shows which account is linked. You can disconnect it at any time, which deletes the access token the app stored for it.

3. Plan and schedule posts

The Calendar shows your posts by month, week, day or as an agenda. To create a post you choose the platform, write the caption, attach the photo or video that platform needs, and pick a date and time. You can also type a quick topic and have AI turn it into a caption, or generate a short video for a video platform.

A scheduler checks every minute and publishes each post when its time comes. The calendar shows whether each post was published; if a platform refused one, the post shows the reason and can be retried.

4. Let Autopilot draft posts (optional)

On the Brand page you enter your business website. The app reads the site's public pages and builds a brand profile, keeping for each fact the page it came from. Before Autopilot writes anything for a website, you prove you control its domain.

Autopilot then drafts posts for the accounts you turn it on for, using only what your brand profile says — it does not invent campaigns, prices or events. Drafts wait for your approval unless you choose otherwise; you approve or dismiss each one.

5. Posting to TikTok

TikTok posts publish privately — visible only to you on TikTok, not to your followers — until this app passes TikTok's app audit.

Connecting. You connect TikTok through TikTok's own authorization screen. Social Autopilot asks for two permissions: user.info.basic, to show which TikTok account is connected, and video.publish, to publish the videos you schedule. It does not read your followers, your videos or your profile statistics.

Composing. When you create a TikTok post, the app asks TikTok for the account's current settings and shows you:

  • which TikTok account the video will be posted to;
  • a Who can see this post choice, with nothing selected until you choose;
  • Comment, Duet and Stitch options, all off until you turn them on, and unavailable when they are turned off on your TikTok account;
  • a disclosure for posts that promote a brand or product, marked as Your brand or Branded content;
  • a preview of your video and caption, with nothing added to the video;
  • TikTok's declaration, which you must tick before the post can be scheduled: “By posting, you agree to TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation”. For branded content it also names TikTok's Branded Content Policy.

Until the app passes TikTok's audit, the only audience offered is Only me, and every TikTok post is published privately. TikTok doesn't allow branded content to be private, so the Branded content option is unavailable for now.

Publishing. Nothing is sent to TikTok until you have reviewed the post and ticked the declaration. At the scheduled time the app checks the account's settings with TikTok again; if your choices are still allowed, the caption and video are sent to TikTok's Content Posting API. If they no longer are — for example, comments were turned off on the account — the post is not published, and the calendar says what to change.

Autopilot and TikTok. Autopilot can draft TikTok videos, but it never publishes one on its own. Each drafted TikTok post waits until you open it, make the choices above and tick the declaration. If the post changes after you approve it, it has to be reviewed again.

Disconnecting. Disconnecting TikTok deletes the tokens the app stored. To remove the permission on TikTok's side as well, also remove Social Autopilot in TikTok's own settings.

What it costs

Social Autopilot is free to use, with limits: up to 3 connected accounts, up to 10 scheduled posts at a time, and 5 AI video generations every 30 days. No payment details are needed.
